Through my study of the human brain and the sheer power we have that we carry around between our two ears in a two pound grey matter, I have found we have the power that any computer could not even come close to match. Although we might not fully realize it because of how a computer can add up a math problem with lightning speed, while some of us are terrible at math.
But just moving your hand to pick up a simple object we can do it literally without thinking and our brain sends signals to every part of our body to pick up that object, to measure distance, accuracy, and more. Our brains our so powerful that we figured out how to go to the moon, how to make sky scrapers, how to fly, and more. With the power of our minds we can literally go from a broke homeless person on the street to living like Donald Trump, just by giving our brain the right commands.
Our mind is a servant to whatever command you give it. So when you are feeling down and out, how to make a positive change in your life starting today. Well we can all make ourselves at a moments notice feel depressed starting right now. It’s very easy, all you have to do is think of a memory you have in your mind that is sad. It could be losing a loved one, a bad break up, losing a game in sports that could of brought you a championship, it could be anything. If you focus on the situation long enough your going to start feeling sad and depressed.
As easily as we can make ourself feel depressed we can make ourselves feel happy and joyous using the same technique. We can picture ourselves in a moment where we were very happy and immediately start feeling happy. Things like when you got a cool present on Christmas, or your first date, when you had your first child, winning your first medal, going to see your favorite band. You can instantly recall those feelings and start feeling really good right away.
That is an easy way to start to change our feelings, now how do we change bad habits? Well first thing is we need to use the power of pain and pleasure. With smoking you need to write out all the pain that you have to deal with if you continue. You have to make it so painful to remain smoking and add more pleasure to if you did quit. Pain would be like you wouldn’t live to see your daughters wedding because of cancer, or hang up posters of people with lung cancer, and not being able to do the sports you love anymore.
Then you need to add pleasure to carrying through with quiting smoking. Pleasure like you will get your health back, you can run again and join the local sports team again. The next thing you will need to do is replace that bad habit with a new and positive habit. You will need to find something constructive and positive. Do something you never thought you always wanted to do but never got the chance to like start a business, paint, build a shed, learn a new language.
You need to replace your habit with something, so whenever you feel the urge to smoke, you immediately do your replacement activity.
