Google Blacklist My Site For Malware Dammit Now What

malicious viruses wordpress

Okay recently Google blacklisted my site and it said if you visit my site may harm your computer.  They were right, in fact somehow my website got hacked and there was malicious virus on my website.  I didn’t know what to do and its crazy because my website is a source of income for me.  So I went from getting 100s of people visiting my site per day all the way down to 11 people.  Thank you 11 people who risked it for the biscuit.  Well anyway I wouldn’t consider myself a techie but it took me 1 day to get everything cleaned up and back to normal.  So as a normal average marketer and blogger here is what I did.

How to Get Rid of Malicious Viruses On Your Blog

Well I was freaking out and it’s funny because I got a cool funny story to tell as well.  So I found out I had malicious virus on  my site which could be harmful to people who visited my site recently and I was at work at the time.  I still do work while building my business from my bedroom.  Anyway I sell electronics and decide to see whats up on my website.  As soon as I visit my website it infects all our computers at work and all the computers shut down.  We can no longer make sales so we have to shut down the whole store.  WTF!!!  I didn’t know what to do, I almost got fired which would be okay because I make enough with my business to survive, but still it was crazy.  They had to call the IT people for the company to clean out our systems, thankfully we were up the next day.

What To Do When Your Site Has been Hacked by Malicious Viruses

So I was pretty frustrated by this point by this stupid Malicious Viruses on my wordpress blog.  So I did what any smart person would do and leverage off of the experts.  I hope if your site is infected right now that you have good hosting.  I called the good people at HostGator and got in touch with customer support.  I told them the problem and they got to work.  It was around 8pm when I called them and they had my site all cleaned up by 11am the next morning.  They also changed my password to my cpanel and told me exactly where the virus was on my site.  So I went into my Google Webmaster account and requested them to remove the warning off of my site.  Probably 8 hours later Google removed the warning because all the mailicious viruses were removed.

Lessons Learned With This Hacked by Malicious Viruses Ordeal

The lessons I learned with this Malicious Viruses hack was to not have any random blogs installed in your hosting.  That’s how they got into my  site was by this dead blog I put up for show and tell.  It was just waiting for predators and I got hit.  The next thing I would do would be to change my password regularly, download malware bytes for your computer and also look up malware scanner plugins for your wordpress blog. It sucked to be down and out for those 2 days but now I’m back up and running and glad I didn’t lose this website which brings in so much traffic, leads, and money for my business.  If you are open to learning how to have a successful home business then keep reading below.
