What I learned from Anthony Robbins from - Awakening the Giant Within was that there are two profound forces that guide us left and right, forward and back. These forces are what brought us to where we are right now at this very moment. Most are not aware that these forces exist and allow these forces to guide them unconsciously through life to turn left or right, forward and back.
We are kind of flowing on auto-pilot and move to the conditioning of the world, influenced by our surroundings. Unconsciously we are being programmed to what we like, what we eat, the way we perceive things, and never know why we are not living the life of our dreams. It’s funny though that in order to be successful all we would have to do is get into our own driver’s seat and start taking control of where we go in life.
The two mystical forces that guide us are forces that we can have full control over right this minute and start our way to instant change and financial freedom. The two forces are “pain” and “pleasure”. There is only two directions we go and that is to avoid pain and to gain pleasure. These two forces are the two things that brought you to where you are today.
Most of us are not aware of these powers and continue to live life letting the world influence their decisions based on avoiding pain and gaining of pleasure. But understanding these two powers and learning how to use them and be in control of them can dramatically change your life starting today.
Just like in losing weight. We associate pain with having to give up the good fatty foods, that instant gratification, the pain of working out, that pain of losing weight then have it all come back again. We associate more pain to all these things more than the pleasure of feeling healthy, looking great, raising self-esteem, that we just decide to keep on getting fat.
That is the same about wealth. In network marketing the pain of rejection, losing money, having friends and family laugh at you, and not getting anywhere is more painful then going through all of that to find a way to be successful and live the life of your dreams. That is why a lot of people fail is because they associate more pain in doing the things that will make them successful such as doing presentations, calling leads, selling and marketing, buying programs to learn success principles.
So how do you change?
The trick is to link and associate extreme pain to not doing what you need to do. Avoiding pain is much more powerful motivator then gaining pleasure. We rather avoid pain then move toward pleasure, just as we would rather look at the car crash that happen on the highway then see the beautiful scenic view in the horizon.
We can program ourselves to use pain and pleasure to our advantage. First is to write out all the things you want to get accomplished.
Example)
Write out 300 blog posts to get 20 FREE MLM Leads per day for my business
Next is to associate massive pain to not doing the activity
Example)
If I don’t i’ll end up broke and poor not being able to feed my family and everyone will laugh at me that I couldn’t make this MLM thing work out. I’ll end up starving and look malnourished that my girlfriend will dump me and i’ll be alone and lonely.
The next step is to write out the extreme pleasure you will get from doing the task
Example)
I will have 20 leads per day for my business that I will have absolutely for free, I will have a marketing list that I can promote my products to, I can set out metrics and see how many leads convert to sales, I will have people coming to learn from me from all over the world, and I will have lead abundance so I will always have business coming in for me and finally live the dreams of my life and live on the beach.
Do this simple activity for every goal you set out and use the power of pain and pleasure to your advantage to get yourself motivated to actually do the things you need to do to be successful right now.
- quit smoking
- lose weight
- have a better relationship with partner
- etc..
