The MLM GURUS Lied To Me

My journey starts off like most network marketers.  I got recruited in 2005 to my first business opportunity super excited.

How excited?  Well like how I felt when I was 7 years old on Christmas morning. I couldn’t sleep for days because I was thinking of the life I was going to live once I was making 5-6 six figure months.  And the plan for MLM success was simple.

All I had to do was write down a list of 100 people that I knew and let them know about the business.  After I recruited just 2 people they could go and do the same and guess what, in couple months I would be set free of the 9-5 right.

WRONG! Something was really wrong with the up-line formula so I turned to the GURU’s.  I realized that I was doing everything wrong of course.  But I did learn some GREAT THINGS FROM GURUS, as well I think they LIED to me. Let me explain….I started my real education in network marketing from the book Magnetic Sponsoring from MLM Genius Mike Dillard.

The book promised me that after learning and applying the concepts in his book that I would attract prospects to me, money in hand ready to join. Well part of the process was to INVEST in myself and make myself an expert and professional in this industry.

So after $40,000 in ebooks, audios, seminar courses, DVD’s, books all in the education of making myself smarter and attractable because now I can solve your problems in MLM, now I have hundreds of people chasing me down. I get emails like this now: And emails like this: And i get these emails almost everyday.  People are literally chasing me down and I can now recruit without ever having to pick up the phone. Now this is all cool but here is the bad part of this all.

You know that $40,000 in training and educating I was telling you about, well that took me 4 years to acquire.  I basically took a break from network marketing just to learn all this stuff and now this stuff is finally easy. But now that I recruited people all with a push of a button, now I completely overlooked this aspect and taught my new recruits that they need to do the same.

They need to educate themselves and invest in themselves and than they too can recruit at will. Well that took me fricken 4 years to do, so how can I get my team going if that is the system?  Well I looked a bit closer into the first book I bought again and Mike talked about the McDonalds System. With McDonalds any kid can come in and with a 15 minute tutorial they are making themselves money and making the business money.

That is exactly how network marketing should be and as a leader this is what you should have for your team.  First obviously qualify them if their dreams are worth you investing your time in them.  Than get them in the system. Here are a few systems you should have.

Lead Generation System – An effective system that they can plug into and start generating leads for themselves

Direct Response System – This part of the system you are marketing a retail product of some sort.  Usually a “how to” product that educates your lead and positions you more as an expert. An effective system that provides metrics from visitor to sale.  This way you know how to set up your advertising budget and cost to acquire.

Sort and Filtering System – your direct response system goes hand in hand with this.  You need to sort the suspects from the prospects.  You don’t want to waste your time on NO ONE.  Only the prospects who have put up their hands and bought your front end retail product deserve your time and energy.

Recruiting System Now that you have product customers it’s time to recruit.  Now not everyone on your team is going to be a master sales person and you shouldn’t have to be.

Instead you want to be master promoters and sell through education.  As you build your list base to the thousands, there is always going to be someone ready to join your team. Have a system where you send out a direct response letter, video, audio to new customers and turn them into partners.

Traffic System This is where you and your team get your leads.  You want highly targeted traffic coming to your site.  To get this system going you need to do a CO-OP.  Advertising on your own is alright but not everyone is going to know how to do it. Pool your teams resources into one advertising budget so instead of a team of 10 placing small $100 ads, you can get together and start out with an advertising budget of $1,000.00.

As a leader you will set this up or join a team that has a leader who is doing this.  Use a URL rotator so everyone enjoys the same amount of traffic generated.

Duplication System From here this is where you get new reps who know nothing about setting up a lead capture page, creating their own product, selling, but have that champion spirit to sign up and get a duplicate marketing machine that you and your team uses to build your business.

It should be easy to set up like setting up an email address. Now each new member can join your business, have a system, join in the advertising system, and create results.

Knowledge System As a leader set up a knowledge system like a blog or membership site where you explain whats working for you and how your creating results. Create a team starter guide and always promote learning and investing in themselves while they are creating results.

Because the more educating and knowledge you have at marketing and promoting the bigger your commissions checks will be.
