What is success?

Where does success come from?

How does a human being defy all odds and astonish the world by their accomplishments. Does it come from a certain way of thinking or behaving?  Do you have to be born in a certain part of a city or know certain type of people.

When I was growing up success wasn’t something that we would see all to often. The town had 1,600 people in it and life’s purpose to most people was to party it up for days in a row. Oh sure it sounds all good until friends who had talents to go to the NHL are losing their livers and soon can barely function.

What is success?

To me it was to get out of where I was at. I remember in 1996 I was watching the olympics and they were just about to start the 100 meter race. These guys who were racing were the picture of perfection when it came to a thoroughbred. I was interested to see who would win, and one person I was counting on in particular.

He was the only Canadian in the field and his name was Donavon Bailey. I remember this very clearly because a few seconds layer my life would change forever.  There were two false starts right before the actual race began only adding more to the anticipation, so much you can hear it in the crowd.

But when it the gun blew for the third time it was on and even though it only lasted 9.84 seconds, I swear time slowed down and felt like a whole minute I was watching. Bailey actually started off behind the pack and stride after stride closed in and ……… Man he broke the world record.

For some reason I felt like he was trying to tell me something but nevertheless I got the message from that day on that anything was possible. From there I found hard work, determination, extreme focus, and perseverance pays off. Before long I was traveling all over the nation winning my own victories in track and field.

I saw and experienced things that many people my age in the small town will never experience in their lives. But I wanted more. I wanted success?

I knew early on that success depended on me and I will not get a hand out or pity. If I wanted something it depended 100% on me if I was to make it happen or not. Because even though I had world class trainers showing me proper techniques it was me and not them that would have to step on that starting line and run that race.

What is success?

I was improving my life by always working hard to a very clear goal that I had in mind. And when I accomplished what I wanted to I still wasn’t satisfied. I needed more, needing something else to strive for to reach an even higher level of performance.

I brought this same mindset into business. I wanted success so bad that it had to translate into every area of my well being. Spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. If one was lacking the whole was lacking.

I came upon many roads throughout the pursuit of success and happiness. For track and field I tore my hamstring completely and the doctor said I would never run again. What did I do?  I came back next year and broke a 20 year old long jump record that still stands.

In my business I got laughed at, told it was a pyramid scam, told to get a real job, lost money advertising, had 3 failed websites, got laughted at some more and spent more money then I ever made.

But what is success?

Well I never gave up. I had a dream and passion. Now a days I don’t hear any negative people when it comes to growing a business. Just 6 months ago I had my first 5 figure month from being an entrepreneur. I have people from all parts of the world thanking me for helping. I get supreme satisfaction for knowing I had some part in someone else’s success.

No longer am I a short of leads, no longer is money an issue and finally this business is finally super fun.

But still I am not satisfied. What is success?

As soon as I reach that level or goal I intended to reach I still want to improve and still have a need to get better. Am I finding success …. Yes.

To answer such a question is probably a matter of opinion.

All I know is to never give up on your dreams. The universe is going to throw a bunch of things in your path to success just to test you to see if you truly deserve what’s on the other side. And you will soon see that your going to have to be a higher version of who you are to achieve higher things in your life.

Lose the things that will slow things down on your path to success such as any person who doesn’t agree with the path you choose, negative news, tv, magazines, or anything influencing you in the wrong way that doesn’t empower your true purpose in life.

What is success?

Satisfaction, and happiness in every area of who you are. I wish you extreme success my friend and thank you for changing this world for the best and giving extreme opportunities for everyone who crosses your path.
