They say you don’t get to your goals because you don’t have enough reasons why it’s important to achieve those goals.

I’ve been wanting to get into a better version of myself for a long time now.

But for years I would just Yo-Yo back and forth from being in decent shape to the fatty I am.

Today I worked out and it is day two of me starting to decide deliberately to workout and be active.

Here are the happy feelings I feel about working out today:

  • I know I should workout daily and just getting something done today is a win for me
  • My body can still move and I want to be able to move 10 years from now, 20 years from now and it starts today
  • The dream body I want is the result of small daily workouts done consistently.
  • I am a day closer to where I want to be
  • The more I workout the more I am preparing my body to spend more time with my kids being active
  • I am strengthening my body to live longer
  • I am looking better and better everyday

So I’ve been on a new level of personal development.

I learned about the 5 chemical hormones in your brain that cause every single one of us to do what we do.

  1. Dopamine – It’s the chemical we get when we first bite into ice cream, eat salty foods, for feel good from doing an action or experiencing something that excites you, when achieving a goal and also when people do drugs, gambling, or shopping
  2. Serotonin – A chemical that makes us feel confident, status, and important
  3. Oxytocin – The chemical that plays a part in social bonding, reproducing, and child birth.
  4. Endorphins – Improves mood, feel it in sex, eating chocolate, reduces pain and discomfort
  5. Cortisol – Fear, anxiety, and stress

We all use these chemicals to create a neurological chain towards actions and habits in our lives.

If our lives are messed up it’s because we used these chemicals to create love and bonds with bad habits.

We have to trick our minds to love and create bonds with good habits.

I had to go back into my past memories to the story I told myself about working out and looking good. Turns out when I met my wife, I told myself I was done working out. I’ve been working out my whole life and wanted a break. I was tired and exhausted from always working out.

I created a negative story when it comes to being healthy and working out.

Now I had to change that story almost 15 years later of damaging and not taking care of myself.

Everytime I workout, I deliberately tell myself all the good reasons why it was so awesome that I worked out. I have to create Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, Endorphins, combined towards me working out. My body is a like a drug addict.

If I get all these chemicals released from working out, then my body will crave doing this which is a good thing if I can keep it balanced in a healthy manor.

We do this through mental visualization and also during the workout and after the workout.

Anyway….

I’m so excited that I worked out today and I feel great.
